Chaosium: Greg Stafford said he started the Chaosium in 1974 after consulting with a Tarot deck. I guess the future of the company definitely was in the cards.
His first product was the wargame White Bear & Red Moon. It brought into print our first official source of Gloranthan background material.
Over the next three years, they expanded their product line with games such as Troy and Elric. They remained in relative obscurity until Origins '78 when they rushed onto the scene with the
first edition RQ Rulebook.
As sales topped 1000 copies a month, the call for expansions was rapidly answered. Over the next five years over 20 RQ supplements were added to their growing catalog. The RQ rules were distilled down to their universal system called Basic Roleplaying and it spun off their next generation of roleplaying worlds: Stormbringer,
Ringworld, Thieves' World and Call of Cthulhu. Chaosium has always been a tight little ship in the big world of role-playing. Other Chaosium rarities include: Authentic Thaumaturgy, Reich,
King Arthur's Knights, Lords of the Middle Sea, Raiders and Traders, and Stomp.
