As one of my favorites, it is hard to decide if I like it or Big Rubble better. I have a hard time adventuring in New Pavis with the Big Rubble always so
close by. Its cyclopean walls are ever beckoning; its history and legend so enticing. New Pavis is detailed with sector maps containing building descriptions and notable residents. Note:
the Uleria temple is open 24 hours a day for its discriminating and appreciative worshippers. The Lunar forces occupying the city keep a satisfying tension in the air. Argrath, under one of his aliases, is hidden there as well. Pavis works well as a city, especially since so many different ethnic groups are represented amongst its confines. The areas of the city are detailed enough to save you time when setting up your adventures. Travelers should note that both Geo's and Gimpy's are in Oldtown, and the Lunars can go to Moonlighters. If nothing else, The Cradle scenario makes this a must have. A fair amount was reprinted in River of Cradles, but there's no substitute for the original. So cross that threshold to danger. It contains:
What's in the box / credit sheet. Standard issue for all RQ boxes. Common Knowledge for the Players, 40 pgs. Contains a map of New Pavis, a map of Genertela which pin-points the location of
Pavis, a detailed Pavic chronology and history (loaded with scenario ideas), an aerial view of Pavis, the Great Chart Caper (a Griselda story), cult descriptions for Flintnail, Lanbril, Pavis and Zola Fel, and a
blank adventurer's license for those that choose to venture into the Rubble. City Guide for the Gamemaster, 40 pgs. Contains a small version of the N & S river map, a census of Prax, a description of
Corflu with maps, a list of Sun County rulers, a map of New Pavis (again), and some very complete neighborhood descriptions with maps and places of local interest. It works well with the GM book. The Pavic
rumors section has ample ideas for further adventures in the city for years to come. Map of New Pavis, 17" x 22". Larger Common Knowledge book version. Episodes for the Gamemaster, 40 pgs.
Along with the master expedition form, it contains three scenarios. Welcome to the City (fighting street punks and trolls) and Burglary at Raus House (for you cat burglar wannabees) are ho-hum, but The Cradle is the
best RQ scenario ever written. This is a four part scenario detailing the journey of possibly the last Giant cradle. Greg hasconfessed that the baby is Gonn Orta's daughter and Garrath is (at least one incarnation
of) Argrath. Pinchinning the Gold Wheel Dancer and a variety of historical material are sprinkled throughout the books. Rune level mayhem designed with a kill ratio of 80%. I'd love to say more, but I don't want to
spoil any of the adventures. Just think, all this epic adventure started because Urrrggggghhhh the Ugly (lengendary for being dumber than the horse he rode in on) prayed to a pile of gold wheels while on the Hero
Plane. See Alebard's Quest in Tales #5 for the more complete story. Map of the N & S River of Cradles, the 11" x 34" map also in Big Rubble and Borderlands.
