Here are 45 Rune Lords, Priests, and Lord-Priests for the 15 cults in Cults of Prax. Each is given 2 pages covering the three types of rune levels detailed with statistics, spells, magic items, familiars and bound spirits. Most of the entries look alike, since they lack any personal history or background. Everybody has a bat, bird, and mount with bound spirits. A tedious conversion to RQ3 is possible. The opening section contains the much debated (at least when it came out) material on how to play a Rune Master, plus some group melee and spell tactics. It does have a certain appeal to the power gamer in me. It is a little sad that "establishing the character's personality" gets one paragraph while "using a power enhancing crystal" gets four.  This inspired the WF#10 article by Steve Perrin, who outlined most of the mistakes with a firm and fair hand. The character sheets at the end are of little value, although the allied spirit ones are perfect for winged monkey hit locations. Luise Perrene's (or Perrin, Perenne, please make up your mind!) artwork personalizes each NPC. Take a peek at the Yelmalion's hawkman helmet, his friend's bullseye breastplate or the duck who has wings.

Bill Keyes originally included background histories for all of the NPC's, but they got cut to keep the book to a 48 page length. Fortunately, they were preserved and will be included in the Borderlands, Plunder, and Runemasters reprint due out in the summer of 2003.
